Art Nouveau Arrives at Spoonflower

How is everyone?
I've had an amazing and busy week
... and Im finding it hard to believe it's already Friday!

Last night our family had a wonderful night listening to the sounds of Jazz.
We went to see Branford Marsalis at The Queensland Performing Arts Centre or QPAC - What a fantastic show
- The sound and energy was electric.

I'm wondering now if it's possible to capture the amazing and inspiring energy - that is great live performance - and turn it into a textile design - lol

This week, Art Nouveau has arrived at Spoonflower :)
I just adore Art Deco and Art Nouveau design, and it's wonderful to see the fresh and modern adaptations of the Art Nouveau Theme, in the latest fabric contest at Spoonflower.
Vote for your favorite "Art Nouveau" fabrics at Spoonflower here!

Voting is open now - until Wednesday March 24, at 5pm EST

In other news Spoonflower have recently introduced a new high quality quilting weight cotton (see here)

I've yet to receive my first order of this new cotton, but I'll let you know what I think in the coming weeks :)

And finally, I'm really looking forward to the arrival of a new exhibition
(27 March – 27 June, 2010) at the Queensland Art Gallery

Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones

"Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones' is the result of a collaboration between London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and one of the world’s foremost milliners, Stephen Jones. Exploring the fascinating world of millinery, the exhibition presents more than 250 hats and iconic headpieces from the V&A’s extensive collection and Jones’s own archive."

See some fantastic pictures of the Installation progress for the above exhibition, on the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art's Flickr Photostream

Have a fantastic weekend ....
Cheers
Kris :)
