It could be a result of watching the rain, constantly falling outside, while listening to it pitter-pattering on the roof.
Or maybe it's from seeing so many photo's from overseas e-friends of all the snow that is falling around the world ... (stay safe and warm.)
Or it could be the excitement of knowing the 2010 Winter Olympic Games are about to start.
I suspect however, it's more to do with all the wonderful inspiring quilts that I keep seeing, posted on so many of the amazing blogs that I'm following :)
So anyway .... with quilting in mind, I decided to design some new co-ordinating patterns to add to my existing designs at Spoonflower.
This one is Marie's Garden - Square

And I'm planning to co-ordinate these new designs,
with my existing designs (from top)

Now I have to learn to have patience, while I wait for the proofs to arrive from Spoonflower. Then I can check these new designs for colours and repeats etc ... and finally all being good, I will be able to order enough fabric, to start quilting - YEAH ....
In the meantime I will be playing with possible quilt layouts and will also be searching for some easy, basic (square) quilting tutorials.
(If anyone knows of any, or has any other cool tips for a new quilter, to make this daunting process easier, please let me know :)

ReplyDeleteGood on you Kris. I find I don't have the patience for quilting. If it can't be done in a day, it's not for me,lol. I'm sure with your eye for colour etc, you will have some outstanding results!!! Good luck.

Oh my! More gorgeous creations ~ all stunning! Have done some simple quilting myself nothing fancy ~ made a baby quilt for my sister from what was left of her quilt from when she was a little girl...learned the basics from our grandmother who had me starting to sew linings together from scraps when I was 5.

ReplyDeleteI've only been a SERIOUS quilter for just over a year & change. I would first see if there is a quilt guild near you- having talented and artistic people around you with the same interests makes the process so much more enjoyable. Try checking out the local independent quilt shops too. Also take a look at my Flickr groups that I belong to (amongst the many many that I joined)- like the Fresh Modern Quilt group for instance. Also, people like Aunty Cookie (also an Aussie & at auntycookie.com) are very inspirational! Take care & so very nice to have met you today!
